Got an idea for campus?
Let's make it happen
Organize an event, launch a contest, or start a new community. It’s up to you! The most important thing is that the idea strengthens our local student community. Good ideas deserve the chance to grow 🌱
Twice a year, Campus Kalundborg’s Grassroots Fund allocates funds to help turn good ideas into action. The fund is for students, faculty, volunteer organizations, and local partners who want to create activities and projects that strengthen the student community in Kalundborg.
What can I get?
What does it take?
The grant can be up to 200,000 DKK, but many good projects require far less.

It doesn't have to be complicated. Just attach a simple financial overview showing what the money has been spent on, for example materials, equipment, food, or venue hire.
When you submit your report, you give Campus Kalundborg permission to share descriptions and photos on our website and social media to inspire future projects.
Selected grassroots projects 🌱
Biotech in the backyard
Biotech in the Backyard: Bioprospecting in the Danish Landscape is a series of events and field trips that explore how organisms in nature can inspire biotechnological innovation.
This inspiring grassroots project investigates how nature's own biological resources - such as fungi, bacteria, and other microorganisms - can become the building blocks for future solutions in medicine, food, agriculture, and cosmetics.
Study Start Party 2025
The study start party was planned by the students themselves and co-financed by the grassroots fund to create networks and community across study programs.
With 220 participants, communal dining, social activities, and music, the party provided a framework for new relationships and a stronger study environment right from the start of the academic year.
This gives new students a good start and makes it easier to find a sense of belonging in Kalundborg as a student city.
Bread and wine
The project was developed in collaboration between the University of Copenhagen and the Royal Academy as part of the BREAD and WINE series, which connects students through community and cooking.
With support from the grassroots fund and a donation of 1,000 bricks, students from Kalundborg have built a traditional wood-fired stone oven, which was inaugurated with freshly baked bread and home-fermented kombucha.
The oven will remain in place as a setting for future activities and will be open to both students and local residents.
Global Student Challange
BIOSOL connects international students with Kalundborg's biosolutions environment through a global student challenge.
Students from around the world submit video pitches with their ideas on how local challenges can be solved with biosolutions, and the winners are invited to Kalundborg for a week to experience one of the world's strongest biotech clusters.
With participants from 16 countries across five continents, BIOSOL strengthens Kalundborg's international visibility and appeal as a study city.
